Abstract:  Industries that manage-by-fact, especially the process-based and manufacturing industries, invariably have a blind spot when it comes to making best use of the available statistics. This is an indictment of how the statistical techniques are being transferred or rather, not being transferred, to the right people in the organization. But....help is available.

Implementing a designed approach to experiments encourages your scientists to apply statistical reasoning in reinforcement of their current process knowledge. Many more of their, and your, process-critical decisions can at last be based on data from the technologies that are employed, rather than on conjecture or opinion.
